Choir recruitment

St Mary's Beddington has a strong and well established musical tradition.

This musical tradition is really important to the community. Built around the regular weekly services of Sung Eucharist and Choral Evensong, our highly-regarded choir of boys and adults sings a wide variety of music, from Tudor anthems to twentieth century compositions and is involved in music making not just in the church but in the wider community, both at home and abroad.

St Mary's Boys' Choir is entering a new chapter of its history with various exciting projects. In addition to singing at the regular services of Eucharist and Choral Evensong, this highly-regarded boys' choir makes professional CD recordings and regular concert tours both at home and abroad.

We offer a number of annual music scholarships to boys who sing in our choir. A scholarship is awarded subject to a successful singing audition and is used to pay for lessons on musical instruments.

As well as singing as a boys' choir, the boys perform regularly with our experienced and talented adult choir.

Our programme is not all work! We run a well-trained football team and a variety of outings are organised throughout the year. All boys are welcome to enjoy the social activities, with fun and friendship being at the heart of our group.

Lastly, boys in the choir gain confidence through their singing at Concerts, Services and Weddings which earns them substantial pocket money; on average, each boy can expect to receive an annual sum of around £200.00. (This is in addition to any scholarship they may be offered)

Our imaginative Director of Music is always willing to speak with parents of boys aged 7+ and to adults singing alto, tenor or bass.
